Post….

Lots of new stuff to get to grips with in the post-production. I’ve been introduced to using Reaper with an IEM plug-in. There’s a useful tutorial here: https://plugins.iem.at/docs/tutorial_basicrouting/#what-well-do-and-what-youll-need

The 3D/spatial processing is (unsurprisingly, I suppose) very different from linear editing. The first thing was just to get my head around the possibilities of positioning sounds – near/far, left/right, front/back – rather than thinking of a narrative.

But then, having tried adding various sounds into the space, I started to come to the conclusion that the sound as recorded – without additions – was much more relevant for me. Implanting extra sounds, seems to take away from exploring the soundscape of a place, even if that means being a bit more patient.

I’m also interested in trying to combine the binaural and ambisonic recordings, and have realised it will probably need a sound marker of some sort to get them synched up.
