Create a moodboard
Before we get started, it’s important for you to explore your own style tastes – are you a minimalist, maximalist or a disciple of hygge? Do you like colour, neutrals or natural tones.
First consider what you are going to keep? What furniture or accessories are you keeping. Are they showcase pieces that reflect your design style or simply things you can’t afford to replace? Think about the light in the space, how it is used and what colours and textiles you like.
Most importantly, interior design is visual – so get looking at magazines, design websites and even TV programmes to get inspired. Chances are you will like specific elements of room sets, so get your highlighter out. Magazines will often include stockist information, so make a note of anything you like and where you can get it.
