Deep Digital Cornwall

At the launch day of Deep Digital Cornwall, May 5th 2022, I was one of a group who had the chance to experience their new Visualisation Suite which presents interactive 3D content.

The immediate advantage of this technology, over viewing the same content on a headset, is the shared experience with other viewers – you can actually respond to and discuss what you are seeing in real time. The glasses worn in this image are not only part of the delivery, but also send information on the users position that can be used as data that impacts the content.

The experience was unexpectedly physical, for me. I wanted to move, to get the corresponding movement on the screen. This strongly contrasted with my previous experiences of VR via headsets in which I have felt rather pinned in by the technology, and the lack of ability to see and navigate my surroundings.
